CHICO, Calif. - Matt Rossman fired a complete-game eight hitter while Vance Albitz and Michael Benton drove in three runs apiece to lead the UC San Diego baseball team to a 12-5 victory over the University of Nebraska-Kearney in an NCAA Championship Tournament elimination game Saturday afternoon at Nettleton Stadium. The Tritons (43-17) have an hour break before taking on Chico State in another elimination game slated to start at 7 p.m.
Nebraska-Kearney (34-27) saw its season come to an end. The Lopers got two hits off the bat of Joe Nowaczyk and a three-run home run from Tyler Keeble but after falling behind 4-0 in the first inning never recovered. Seth Svoboda (3-4) started for Nebraska-Kearney and took the loss, allowing four runs on four hits in one inning.
Rossman allowed five runs on eight hits and one walk. He struck out nine.
