A 1971 graduate of Chico State with a B.A. in mass communications, Jeff began his career as owner/general manager of KFM radio in 1974. He remained owner until 1986 and general manager until 1994 when he went on to establish Jeff Kragel Marketing. Most recently, Jeff was the president of the Chico Heat Baseball Club from 1997 to 2002.

The overriding factor in our athletic success is the “Chico Experience”, an indefinable mood which makes student-athletes perceive Chico as home, not just a place to go to school. This, along with excellent coaching and fine facilities, has contributed to Chico’s position in the top 10 of the NCAA Division II rankings in many different sports.

The intercollegiate athletics program at Chico State offers seven women’s sports and six men’s sports. In the fall of 1998, Chico State became affiliated with the California Collegiate Athletic Association, the all-time leader among NCAA Division II schools, with 144 national championships.
