TURLOCK, Calif. - Melissa Lindsay and Katie McIntosh connected with Brittney Doty in the 82nd minute of the match to score Chico State’s only goal in a 2-1 California Collegiate Athletic Association loss at Cal State Stanislaus.
Stanislaus scored both its goals off corner kick, converting the first one in the 38th minute and the second one six minutes into the second half for a 2-0 lead. The Warriors had eight corner kick opportunities in the match, compared to four for the Wildcats.
It’s been a tough three weeks for the Wildcats, who have dropped five of their last six matches to fall to 7-9-2 overall and 3-7-2 in CCAA play. Meanwhile Stanislaus, winner of three straight, improves to 8-5-4, 4-5-3 in conference.
Chico State outshot Stanislaus 13-10, including 10-4 in the second half. Stanislaus keeper Jessica Sitarz was forced to make three saves, while Chico’s Lauren Vance tallied two.
Chico State wraps up the regular season next weekend on the road with matches against Humboldt State on Friday at 7:00 and Sonoma State on Sunday at 2:00.
