Wildcats sitting ninth after opening two rounds in Hawaii

HAWAII - The Chico State men’s golf team is in ninth place among the 14 teams after the opening two rounds of the 4th Annual Dennis Rose Intercollegiate being played at the Mauna Lani North Course. Lucas Delgado, tied for 13th, is the top individual for the Wildcats.

Delgado’s 2-under 142 (70-72) is followed by Brandon Harkins (69-76) in a tie for 22nd, Kyle Souza (80-69) tied for 37th, and Kevin Horan (78-80) and Greg Marskey (81-77) both tied for 60th.

In the team standings, Valdosta State (279-278) shot 19-under for the two rounds and holds a four shot-advantage over St. Edwards (280-281). Sonoma State (279-286) at minus-11 is third. In all, six teams shot under par in the opening 26 holes.

St. Edward’s University’s Andrew Workman (66-68) shot 10-under and leads Valdosta’s Brent Witcher (68-67) by one stroke. Sonoma State’s Jarin Todd, Western Washington’s Jake Koppenberg, Valdosta’s Cole Willis, and St. Edward’s Matthew Hatcher all shot 6-under and are tied for third overall.

The tournament wraps up on Tuesday with a final 18 holes.
