Robbie Pitts shot 67, including a hole-in-one, to advance to the Junior World Golf Championships
CORNELIUS, Ore. – Robbie Pitts, who has signed on to play for the Chico State men’s golf team this fall, shot a 5-under-par 67 final round to post a one-stroke victory in the juniors division at the Jacobsen Junior Challenge held June 24-25 at Forest Hills Golf Club. Pitts aced the 152-yard par-3 seventh hole with a 7-iron to overtake the first round leaders and earn top medalist honors.

Pitts finished with an 8-under 136 (69-67) total and earned a spot at the Callaway Junior World Golf Championships, which will be held July 15-18 at the Torrey Pines South Course in San Diego, the site of Tiger Wood’s U.S. Open victory last month.

“Robbie outplayed a number of future Division I players and some of the best young talent in Oregon,” said Head Coach T.L. Brown. “He’s one of a top-notch freshmen class we’ve brought in and I’m excited to get him to Chico State this fall to begin his college career.”

Pitts accomplishment comes at the same time incoming Chico State freshman Kyle Souza qualified for the 2008 USGA Junior Amateur Championship, posting rounds of 71 and 69.
