’Cats wrap up Lady Otter Invitational on positive note, finish in eighth place

SEASIDE, Calif. – Despite playing in extremely windy conditions with gusts up to 35 miles an hour, the Chico State women’s golf team bettered its score from the day before, shooting a 44-over par 336 Tuesday in the second and final round of the Lady Otter Invitational, held at Bayonet Golf Course in Seaside. The Wildcats, in ninth place after Monday’s opening round, finished the event in eighth place with a 36-hole total of 89-over 673.

Shelby Hooper carded the Wildcats’ best individual score, following up Monday’s round of 7-over par 80 with a 10-over 83 Tuesday; her total of 17-over 163 was good for a share of 18th place. Megan Chang shot back-to-back 83’s to finish the Lady Otter Invitational in a tie for 29th place with a 20-over 166.

Erin Sears posted Chico State’s top individual round Tuesday, shooting a 9-over par 82 to finish tied for 31st place with a two-day total of 21-over par 167. Whitney Vau bettered her opening round score by five strokes Tuesday with a 15-over 88 to finish in a tie for 51st place at 35-over 181. Tiara Wells carded a 20-over par 93 Tuesday to finish in 53rd place with a 36-hole score of 36-over 182.

First round leader California Baptist University won the Lady Otter Invitational, shooting a collective 31-over par 323 Tuesday to finish the event at 46-over 630. Adriana Niclotti of Cal Baptist posted the top individual score with an 8-over par 154.

COMPLETE TOURNAMENT RESULTS

The Lady Otter Invitational officially wrapped up Chico State’s fall schedule. The Wildcats will be back in action March 1-2 at the St. Edward’s University Invitational in Austin, Texas.
