If 2009 was any indication of what spring can hold for Chico State women’s golf, there should be a lot to look forward to in the coming months.
After reaching the Division II National Championship for the first time in program history last spring, the Wildcat squad with six returners had a fall that didn’t quite measure up, but have all of the talent and potential necessary to make another exceptional run.
This Monday and Tuesday, the ’Cats will head down south for the St. Edward’s Invitational at Grey Rock Golf Course in Austin, Texas. The event will be the first five on the regular season spring docket for the Wildcat women, led by head coach Kathy Dais.
With a healthy mix of youth and experience, from seniors Megan Chang and Erin Sears to freshmen like Alexandra Bush and Heather Fegley, Chico State women’s golf has plenty to be optimistic about in the spring of 2010. Whether a return trip to the National Championship in Mesa, Ariz., is in the cards remains to be seen.
