CHICO – Kelly Clancey put up an NCAA provisional qualifying mark at last season’s Chico State Multi Invitational. It was an accomplishment that had the entire Wildcat track program buzzing. What it did not have was Clancey satisfied. Fast forward one year later. The now-junior has smashed her first-day number from last year’s event (2,576) and leads the 25th annual Chico Multi heptathlon with a personal-best score of 2,829.
Clancey, who won the 100-meters and high jump, finished second in the 200 meters and fourth in the shot put. Butte College’s Sarah Nichols is in second place with 2,727 points. Brittni Showers of Cal State Stanislaus, the winner of the 200 meters, sits in third with 2,364 points. Clancey’s teammate, Shannon Jordan, is in ninth place with 1,858 points.
