Rain threatening Chico State baseball games against Simpson

CHICO – Rain might win this one. The Chico State baseball team’s doubleheader against Simpson University Tuesday night was originally on the calendar as part of a three-game series Feb. 5-6 before it was rescheduled due to rain. The wet stuff is once again in the forecast for tomorrow night, though it’s safe to say the Wildcats are hoping the rain stays away.

Chico State is looking to get back on track after dropping the last three of a four-game series with 13th-ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills over the weekend. First pitch at Nettleton Stadium is scheduled for 3 p.m.

The Wildcats were 18-6 prior to their first meeting with Simpson this season. They split a doubleheader in Redding, however, beginning a skid in which they’ve won just nine of 18 games.

Chico State, which dropped out of the National Rankings after 10 straight weeks in the top 30, is 27-15 overall. Simpson is 19-25-1.

Both games will be broadcast locally on ESPN Radio 101.7 FM and 1340 AM and on the Chico State Web site webcast link at www.chicowildcats.com.
