The Chico State men’s cross country team has won eight California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and West Region titles in a row. The women’s squad has claimed six of the last eight conference crowns and four of the last seven regional titles. The men have finished among the top 10 at the NCAA Championships 11 years running, and the women eight. It’s understandable that Head Coach Gary Towne likes to test his teams against even tougher competition.
They’ll certainly be tested in 2010. The Wildcats will travel to the Stanford Invitational, Bronco Invitational hosted by the Santa Clara University, and the Doc Adams Invitational hosted by UC Davis this season. All three meets will feature top-notch Division I competition.
All of that, along with the Willamette Invitational, will help prepare the Wildcats for the Nov. 6 CCAA Championships, Nov. 20 NCAA Championship West Regional, and the Dec. 4 National Championships.
