CHICO – The call went out to tee it up on behalf of Chico State baseball, and the Wildcat faithful came out in force. The program’s 3rd annual golf tournament, held July 17 on the North Course of the legendary La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, attracted fans and former ’Cats dating back to the 1960’s and raised over $15,000, topping last year’s total.
The annual get-together of Chico State baseball players, coaches and supporters was once again organized by former Wildcat Scott Dalecio, and was a tremendous success. Mike Baca, “The Voice” of the ’Cats, served as the event’s special guest speaker, entertaining those attending with stories about his experiences broadcasting Chico State baseball since the mid-1990’s.
Former Wildcat and future Hall of Famer John Eric Hernandez was a member of the foursome that shot 16-under par to win this year’s tournament.
