PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Chico State women’s soccer team’s strong showing in the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament Final Four netted All-Tournament Team honors for seniors Molly Downtain and Lisa Webster.
Webster scored the match-tying goal in the 86th minute of the Wildcats’ 1-1 draw against two-time defending national champion Grand Valley State, which advanced by winning a shootout after two overtime periods. Downtain helped the Wildcats keep the high-scoring Lakers off the board over the final 109
minutes of play after an opening-minute goal.
Webster’s goal was the 22nd of her illustrious career and moved her into a tie for sixth on the school’s all-time list. It also gave her 63 career points, moving her into a tie for fifth on that list.
Downtain, the heart and soul of the Wildcats’ defense over the past three seasons, was playing in her eighth NCAA Championship Tournament match – the most in Chico State history.
