WALNUT CREEK – Rashad Parker's senior season got off to a bit of a slow start. Now he's off and running.

Parker poured in a career-high 31 points to lead the Wildcats to an 88-67 win against Cal State Stanislaus Saturday night to earn California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week honors for the week of Dec. 9-15.

That effort came exactly one week after Parker scorched Sonoma State for 23 points. Prior to that performance, the team's leading scorer during 2012-13 conference play had been mired in a major shooting slump. Parker was averaging only 9.2 points and missed 21 of his first 25 attempts from 3-point range over the first six games of the season. 

That slump is busted.

Parker pumped in 8-of-13 shots Saturday night, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. He also hit 10 of 11 free throws as the Wildcats won their sixth straight overall and 14th straight home game. The guard from Castro Valley also contributed four rebounds, two assists and a career-best two blocked shots.

His 31 points are the third most by a Wildcat in Head Coach Greg Clink's tenure. He's also on the cusp of breaking into a pair of Chico State career lists. Parker needs 12 more 3-pointers to become the 13th player in school history with 100 or more career triples. And he's four made free throws shy of qualifying among the career free throw percentage leaders. Parker is currently shooting 83 percent from the stripe in his career (96-for-116), which would rank him third in career history.

Parker is the second Chico State player to earn CCAA Player of the Week honors in the past three weeks. Point guard Giordano Estrada won the award for the week of Nov. 25-Dec. 1.
