Duncan on watch list for top small college basketball player in the nation

Junior guard leads 25th-ranked Wildcats in scoring, assists, rebounds and steals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Small College Basketball announced Friday that Chico State junior guard Robert Duncan has been selected to the watch list for the first Bevo Francis Award, consisting of 100 of the finest men's basketball players among all of small college basketball – NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA Division I, NAIA Division II, USCAA and NCCAA.
 
Duncan leads the 25th-ranked Wildcats in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals. The Granite Bay product is also among the California Collegiate Athletic Association's top 10 in scoring (6th-15.9 per game), rebounding (9th-5.9), field-goal percentage (6th-.497), 3-point field-goal percentage (4th-.474), assists (3rd-4.1), assist-to-turnover ratio (5th-1.7), and steals (T2nd-2.0). 
 
Duncan is one of three California Collegiate Athletic Association athletes on the list, joining Rakim Brown of Humboldt State and Jordan Faison of Cal Poly Pomona.
 
According to the Small College Basketball website, the field will be narrowed to 50 players on Feb. 15 before being cut to 25 on March 15. The finalists will be announced in a highlight video that will be released April 1.
 
The award will be presented annually to the player who has the finest overall season within small college basketball. Considerations will be season statistics and individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements.
