Sadie Gastelum had her first top-10 collegiate finish as a freshman at the 2013 Triton Classic. Saturday she and the Wildcats return to the scene of their tight 33-35 victory against the host Tritons for the 24^th annual Triton Classic. The six-kilometer race is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
 

Gastelum, 12^th at last year's NCAA Championships, will lead the charge for the Wildcats once again, but she will be without two of her top teammates – Karlie Garcia and McCall Habermehl – who will sit out in hopes of being in top physical condition when the postseason begins on Oct. 22 at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships.
 
The Wildcats are ranked No. 4 in the nation and No. 1 in the West Region entering the race. They won the season-opening Humboldt Invitational and finished 5^th in last week's Division-I heavy field at the Capital Cross Challenge. UC San Diego (#14 in the nation and #3 in the West Region), Point Loma (#7 in the West Region), National Junior College Athletic Association No. 3 Central Arizona, and defending race champion Cal State San Bernardino are likely to be among the Wildcats' biggest challengers for the title.
