Halle Meadows was named head coach of the Chico State women’s soccer program by Executive Director of Athletics Eric Coleman and begins her tenure March 1, ushering in a new era for one of the department’s most established programs.
Meadows becomes just the third head coach in the 43-year history of Chico State women’s soccer, succeeding Kim Sutton, who retired following 25 seasons leading the Wildcats.
Meadows arrives in Chico after serving as the head women’s soccer coach at Bushnell University. Hired by the Beacons in January 2023, Meadows made an immediate impact, leading Bushnell back to the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament in her first season for the first time in seven years. The program continued to grow under her direction, including the largest roster in program history with nearly 40 student-athletes, and by her third season the Beacons finished fifth out of 13 teams in the conference—the highest placing in program history.
Prior to her time at Bushnell, Meadows spent two seasons at Southwestern Oregon Community College, including one season as head coach of the Lakers. In 2022, she guided SWOCC to a 7-4-2 overall record and a second-place league finish. The Lakers closed the season on a 7-0-2 run, and Meadows was named the NWAC Southern Region Coach of the Year.
In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Meadows has coached with Lane United Football Club of the USL W League since 2023. After beginning with the club as an assistant coach, she was elevated to head coach in 2025. She has also held coaching and leadership positions with Eugene Metro FC’s Girls Academy, South Valley Surf in Bakersfield, and Frontier High School, where she served as varsity coach and program director.
A California native, Meadows earned both her bachelor’s degree in applied exercise science and her master’s degree in kinesiology from Cal State Bakersfield. She holds a U.S. Soccer “C” License and also brings collegiate teaching experience, having instructed courses in sports nutrition, basic nutrition, and exercise science.
Meadows takes over a Chico State program coming off a 10-6-4 season in 2025, including a 7-2-2 mark in CCAA play, a second-place conference finish, and an appearance in the CCAA Tournament championship match.
