Nick Green enters his 10th season as head coach of the Chico State men's golf program in 2026–27. Since taking over the program in 2016–17, the former Wildcat golfer has guided Chico State to three California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) championships, nine NCAA postseason appearances and six trips to the NCAA Championship Tournament.

Under Green's leadership, Chico State has remained one of the premier NCAA Division II programs in the West Region. The Wildcats have captured conference championships in 2017, 2018 and 2026 while earning numerous individual accolades, including two CCAA Players of the Year, one CCAA Freshman of the Year, 26 All-CCAA selections, 13 All-West Region honors and six All-America awards. Green has been recognized three times as the CCAA Coach of the Year and earned West Region Coach of the Year honors in 2023.

The 2025–26 season marked another milestone for the program. Chico State won four tournaments, including the Wildcat Classic, Palm Valley Classic and a share of the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational before capturing the CCAA Championship in a dramatic three-hole playoff. Green was named CCAA Coach of the Year after leading the Wildcats to their first conference championship since 2018. Senior Naoki Easterday earned CCAA Player of the Year honors and All-America recognition, while freshman Vineet Vallamsetty was selected CCAA Freshman of the Year. The Wildcats finished the season ranked No. 2 in the NCAA West Region and tied for 11th at the NCAA Division II West/South Central Super Regional.

In 2024–25, Green guided the Wildcats to six top-five finishes, including runner-up performances at the Wildcat Classic, Palm Valley Classic and Hanny Stanislaus Invitational. Chico State finished fifth at the CCAA Championships and qualified for the NCAA West/South Central Super Regional. Naoki Easterday and Travis Miller both earned First Team All-CCAA honors after combining for five CCAA Golfer of the Week awards during the season.

The 2023–24 season saw Chico State continue its run as one of the West Region's top programs. The Wildcats earned another NCAA postseason berth and were led by Easterday, who finished tied for fourth at the CCAA Championships while earning All-CCAA recognition.

The 2022–23 season saw the Wildcats back in the national spotlight. After posting six top-five tournament finishes, including victories at the Wildcat Classic and Sharks Shootout, Chico State advanced to the NCAA Championship Tournament for the 15th straight season and placed third at the NCAA West/South Central Super Regional, earning the program's first NCAA Championship finals appearance since 2015–16. Dakota Ochoa and Tyler Ashman each received All-CCAA and All-West Region honors, while Ochoa captured the individual title at the CCAA Championships. Chico State concluded the season ranked No. 35 in Golfstat's final Division II rankings.

Green's Wildcats turned in a strong 2021–22 campaign after returning from the COVID-19 pandemic hiatus. Chico State finished in the top five in seven of its 11 tournaments and reached the NCAA Championship Tournament for the 14th straight season. The Wildcats ended the year ranked fourth in the West Region and No. 56 nationally.

Green's 2019–20 squad recorded five top-10 finishes in six tournaments before the season was halted in March. Chico State finished the abbreviated campaign ranked No. 32 in Golfstat's final Division II rankings.

In 2018–19, Green led the Wildcats to a pair of tournament championships and top-five finishes in eight of nine regular-season events, helping Chico State earn the No. 1 ranking in the NCAA West Region. Kelley Sullivan was named the CCAA Player of the Year, while Josh McCollum represented Chico State at the NCAA Championship Tournament. Green earned his second CCAA Coach of the Year award as the Wildcats finished the season ranked fifth nationally by the Golf Coaches Association of America and sixth by Golfstat.

The Wildcats won two tournaments in 2017–18 while posting eight top-five finishes and earning the NCAA West Region's No. 1 ranking. Chico State captured both the stroke-play and medal-match portions of the CCAA Championship Tournament to secure the program's first conference title since 2012. The Wildcats narrowly missed advancing to nationals, finishing tied for seventh at the NCAA West/South Central Regional Championships. Chico State concluded the season ranked No. 16 nationally.

In his first season at the helm in 2016–17, Green led the Wildcats to three tournament victories, including the stroke-play portion of the CCAA Championship Tournament, and seven top-five finishes. Chico State finished third in the West Region and No. 21 nationally.

Prior to assuming leadership of the men's program, Green served as Chico State's head women's golf coach from 2014–17. During his three seasons with the Wildcats, the program established several school records, including the two lowest single-season scoring averages in school history, while recording 17 top-five finishes and two consecutive NCAA Championship Tournament appearances.

Before joining the head coaching ranks, Green served as an assistant coach for both the Chico State men's and women's golf programs. Working alongside head coach T.L. Brown, he helped guide the Wildcat men to a third-place finish at the 2010 NCAA Championships. As an assistant under Kathy Dais, Green also helped lead the women's program to just its second NCAA Championship appearance.

Green is in his 21st year with Chico State golf as either a player or coach and has played a role in many of the most successful seasons in program history. As a student-athlete from 2003–07, he helped the Wildcats finish as NCAA runners-up and record a seventh-place national finish. Green compiled a career scoring average of 76.2 and posted six top-20 tournament finishes while earning Academic All-America honors twice.

A native of Las Vegas, Nevada, Green was a four-time All-State selection in golf and also earned All-State honors in basketball.

Green earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology from Chico State and completed his master's degree in kinesiology in 2010.

Green and his wife Lauren, an art teacher at Pleasant Valley High School in Chico, have two sons, Liam and Miles.
