Brian Fogel is in his first season as the head assistant women’s basketball coach at Chico State. This is the first women’s coaching assignment for the former UC Davis men’s head coach. Fogel led the Aggies to an 89-45 record and two trips to the NCAA Championship Tournament from 1998-2003. Fogel’s 1999-2000 team advanced to the Sweet 16. Prior to earning the head job at UC Davis, Fogel was an assistant coach at Sonoma State (1988-90), California (1990-91), San Francisco State (1991-94), and UC Davis (1996-98). The 1998 UC Davis team won the NCAA Championship, and Fogel was hired as the head coach that summer. Fogel played collegiately at Sonoma State. He earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Sonoma State in 1991 and his master’s degree from St. Mary’s College in 1993. Fogel and his wife, Kerry, have two daughters, Katrina and Brooke.
